1/4th of cup water

1tsp of powdered sugar

2 tbsp of cornstarch or cornflour

1 tablespoon of dark soya sauce

1 ½ tablespoon of light soya sauce

1 tablespoon of Shaoxing wine also known as Chinese cooking wine

⅛ tablespoon of Chinese five Spice powder

1 tablespoon of sesame oil (optional)

⅛ tablespoon of black pepper powder

2 tbsp of oil

12 oz / 360g beef fillet and flank, or rump

1 garlic clove but finely chopped

1 tsp of finely chopped fresh ginger

4 to 5 cups of fresh broccoli florets (1 head) and cooked

1 cup of water

1 tablespoon of sesame oil (optional)

Place the cornflour and water in a bowl to give it a good mix.

Now, add all the Chinese beef sauce ingredients mentioned above.

Slice the meat around 1/4″ / 0.5cm thick slices.

Next, Place the meat and a couple of tbsp of the Sauce into a large bowl and put aside.

Heat oil during a skillet at high flame.

Add Chinese beef and open up, leave it for around one minute until it turns brown.

Now, Stir the beef for 10 seconds, then gradually add garlic and ginger.
